Today,
the 2nd February 2013, is the 70th Birthday of the Grand Muftī of
India, the Pride of al-Azhar, Sayyidī Tāj al-Sharīʿah, Muftī Akhtar Riḍā
Khān al-Qādirī.
His knowledge has depth unparalleled, his
countenance luminosity unparalleled, his lineage nobility unparalleled
and his sainthood loftiness unparalleled.
As the end of times
draw nearer and the rapid decline into modernity sees many scholarly
figures pay mere lip service to the historical Masters of this ummah
whilst issuing self-serving verdicts at the beck and call of societies
every whim, he has clung firmly to the corpus of conservative scholarly
opinion.
He has suffered health
problems including loss of sight but he never ceased to travel and
teach, including translating countless works of his illustrious
great-grandfather into Arabic for the preservation and elucidation of
the pristine positions of the ahl al-sunnah.
The dishonest and
mischievous have vilified and slandered him yet he still holds himself
with forbearance and nobility that sets him aside as a true
manifestation of the Prophetic tradition "the scholars are the heirs of
Prophets."
May Allāh Almighty bless the noble Shaykh with a long life, and enable us to benefit by means of him – āmīn
